Review and Giveaway: In the Kitchen: Real Food Basics

If you're a long time reader of my blog, you will probably know that I love food. I always have. Over the past few years I have grown more and more interested in and passionate about the Real Food movement, eating healthier, whole foods, and how important it is. Although I am definitely not where I would like to be, I feel that it is very important to be educated about what we eat and where our food comes from. Enter, In The Kitchen: Real Food Basics by Kate Tietje.
Kate is the author of the blog Modern Alternative Mama (which by the way you should definitely check out), and has given me the opportunity to review this book, and I'm so glad that she did. Her book is not just a cookbook, it's a resource for anyone wanting to know more about real food and how to begin. She even has a section called "baby steps" that gives you small steps to take to begin your journey to eating real food. Many might not even know where to start and I feel that this book would be a big help.
Kate even goes over the different sweeteners and their pros and cons which I found very helpful. I'm always confused as to which ones are good for you and which ones are not.
I can't forget the yummy recipes. She has recipes for homemade french fries, biscuits, cheesy potatoes (which my family loved) and many more. After reading this book, I found that there were just a couple of things that maybe I'm not ready to dive into just yet, but overall I found it very helpful and informative.
If you or someone you know has made a goal to dig deeper and find out more about real foods, I think this book would be a helpful tool.
So...today is your lucky day because I am giving away one copy of the ebook In the Kitchen: Real Food Basics. Exciting huh?
Here's the rules...
Leave a comment on this post answering the question...
If you win, would you keep this book and if so, why? Or would you give it away and to whom?
simple as that.
Also, please leave your email address or a way that I can contact you if you win.
I will announce a winner at the beginning of next week! Only one entry per person, please.

*The opinions expressed in this review are my own and I was given a copy of this book to review by the author. I was not further compensated to do this.

I would LOVE this book and would keep it for myself! I have a lot of health problems when it comes to eating foods that aren't "real" and so I am in the midst of switching foods and finding out what foods will help my health, etc.

I would keep this book. I have always love to cook homemade dinners however not always on the healthy side:) Over the past couple of months I have started to research and study on healthy food and meals which has changed the kinds of food I prepare total.

Hi Gina,
I would keep the book, too. My interest in more healthy eating has grown over the years. too. And I can say that I def. am more healthy since I eat more whole and fresh foods!!
I am glad to hear "K" is feeling better. When kids are young, they do get sick especially in winter.... been there, done that! They do outgrow it haha. (and move away)
Enjoy your time with the little ones, even when they are hard at times.

I would keep it and use it, and probably share many of the recipes with others.

Sounds like a great book! I would definitely keep it. I need some practical ways to use more natural foods in our meals. Especially now that we're expecting again, I tend to fall into the trap of convenience food, and our health certainly suffers for it.
