I had asked my friend Jen who lives next door, if she would come over for a couple of minutes while I ran to the store to drop off a video. When I returned, we were talking in the driveway and I noticed that after a couple of minutes, I didn't see K. I called for him and walked to the front of the house and I heard him answer me from inside. I opened the door and called in "K, what are you doing?" He replied, "I made lunch." I thought, "Oh no, what is he doing." So, I looked at Jen and said "do you want to come in and see what he made?" because I knew it would probably be comical. She said yes, of course...who could resist. K said "I made tomatoes and raisins, and onions and raisins!" I walked upstairs and went into the kitchen and sure enough, that is what he made! I had tomatoes and onions sliced in the refrigerator from the turkey burgers we had last night for dinner so, he took it upon himself to use them and sprinkle raisins on top for a garnish. I quickly left the room and tried to keep quiet but, I was laughing so hard, I started crying. It was really cute. The funny thing is, he loves tomatoes but, doesn't like onions so, he gave his sister the onions and kept the tomatoes for himself. I thanked him for wanting to help out but, I informed him that A could not eat the onions for lunch and we could get her something else but, she could eat the raisins and would probably enjoy them. I did let him know that next time he should ask before coming inside when we were outside, because I didn't know where he was and that he should ask before attempting to "make lunch" again. The whole episode brought a smile to my face because, really it is exactly his little personality to do something like that. He loves to help and do things for others and to him, this was something he could do to help, even if the whole kitchen reeked of raw onions. :) Here are the pictures of our gourmet "lunch". By the way, he did eat his tomatoes and raisins, and enjoyed every minute of it

Awww, that's so cute!! :) I think it's cute that he tried to give A his onions because he doesn't like them.
Someday that initiative is going to serve him very well!
I think A might still be hungry after having only onions and raisins for lunch... :)
He's such a sweet boy, G. So thoughtful, and with great intentions!

How precious! Rainsins are the perfect garnish :)
oh that's just adorable...that's actually my ideal lunch...well, the tomatoes anyway. i eat tomatoes like apples, with a salt shaker...yum.
I think he should be the next contestant on Iron Chef!!! :)
Happy POW!

What a lucky mama to have such a cheerful helper! ;)
Mmm, anything is good with tomatoes!
Oh my, perhaps a chef in the making?
A master chef in the works!
Cute!
Maybe we'll see him on Food Network someday?

Ooh! Delish!
What an adorable kid....
I think he's preparing his bachelor skills for when he's in his mid-twenties...
Excellent.
He's going to be ready to impressed the ladies with his cooking skills when he's older.
Hey, at least he's resourceful and used what was there. Leftovers anyone? And thank God he didn't try to cut the tomatoes up himself.
LOL ALternatively titled: When the Food Network Becomes Damgerous!
Happy SITS day!
Awwww, little chef! Very cute that he thought to make you lunch! :-)
Adorable!! :)
So cute! It's never to early to start working on those gourmet cooking skills :D

What a little guy!! Hey, I need some help, he can come over and cook while I clean:)
It was also healthy food.
Good for him! That is adorable.
that is hysterical!
I'm popping over from SITS! Very cute story. Reminds me of my little one.
I love it--I especially love that you can't really tell if he's being mischievous or cute by giving his sister onions!
And please be completely annoyed with me but I'm a teacher and can't help myself: "A lot" is 2 words, so you might want to change it in your "leave a comment" blurb. I hate myself for pointing it out!
Happy SITS day! Adorable story!
Cute
Looks like a healthy lunch to me! :)
So sweet - and he's a better cook than I am for sure!
Happy SITS Day!
:^) Anna
What a sweetie and such a helpful little guy!
Happy SITS day!
Auds at Barking Mad
That is so sweet! It reminds me of something my 4 yr old would do!
It looks like he has a flair for presentation, so maybe he'll be a chef. I have one who likes to make lunch for us sometimes. The menu is usually heavy on cheese, with cheese puffs, cheese sandwiches and cheese crackers ... oh, and cheese slices as well. But I'm a "cheesy" mama, so I love the thoughtfulness!
Hey! I already had that recipe posted on MY blog.
JUMP BACK, PAULA DEAN! HE MAY BE ON TO SOMETHING HERE!
How cute! Keep these to show his wife someday when she complains that he doesnt help around the kitchen.
Oh my, that is hilarious! You've got a future chef on your hands :)
Happy SITS day!
LOL His "ppor sister" with her lunch of raisins and onions. Ewwww!
Looks like you've taught him to eat healthy!!
that so sounds like my son. He has made some 'lunch' for himself too but it is usually just sauces like ketchup and caramel.
Congratulations on being a featured blogger.
How cute is he? I do believe that you may have a budding chef growing up there or at least a man who will be able to take care of himself!
Marlene
I LOVE that you took pictures!
Congratulations on raising such a thoughtful little man! This story is too cute!
oh my, he sounds like he's quite the "little helper"...congrats on being SITS FB!!!
Very cute story!
HOW SWEET!!! What a beautiful idea (even if he did give his sister onions). Maybe he'll be your gourmet chef one day!!! Yay for you Mom!
Over from SITS, loving what an adorable little muffin you have! =]
That is quite hillarious and very cute of him to make lunch! I love when the kiddos do stuff like that (even though sometimes it's more of a mess to clean up)...so thoughtful though :-)

Aww... sweet kid! ;)
That is just adorable!
Oh what a sweet kid! You're a lucky mom. And I think you have a future kitchen helper. My wee ones *love* to help out. Luckily, they know they aren't allowed to do anything unless I'm right there with them supervising ;) I can only imagine what would happen if I weren't!
That's so sweet!
That is so funny, how old is he? What a cutie.
Here from SITS... a little late, but hope you enjoyed your day in the spotlight :)
My youngest likes to "make" her own lunch, too. Usually consists of some combination of crackers, raisins, fruit snacks, applesauce or apple slices!
