I graduated from High School in 1996. Honestly, it seems like it wasn't that long ago. I have vivid memories of my times in High School; some good, some not so good. I keep my yearbooks on our bookshelf in the living room and occasionally, I'll take a minute and peek at them for fun. Recently, I found a memory book from my Senior year in high school. It was a book that I used to document memories from that year. We were given it along with our yearbook. Today, I flipped through the book and was literally laughing out loud! I was only 17 but, I remember feeling like I was such an adult and I had it all together and I knew everything. Now, 13 years later, as I look back on some of the things I had written, I was thinking..."I thought I was so with it...and I was really ridiculous!" My whole life back then was all based on my social life, which was fine by me and not fine with my parents. Everything revolved around my Boyfriend and having fun. Now, I know it's Ok to have fun but, I admit that at times there is such a thing as too much fun...and I had it. Anyway, the point of this post is to share with you some of the things that I had written in this book...the non-personal stuff of course. I thought it would be fun to take a peek into my 17 year old brain. Disclaimer: I was dead serious when I wrote all of this. Feel free to laugh, I did! (My modern-day common sense commentary in parentheses)
This particular page in the book was called "So, What Now?"
My goal in life is to...become a singer and be famous (that was reaching a little bit)
Summer after Senior year I will...party! (sounds promising)
My plans after high school...work for a year.
My career will be...a professional vocal performance artist
I'd like the yearly salary of...$100,000 or more
Marriage Outlook...Marry a Doctor and have 1 or 2 kids (well, I got the 2 kids part right!)
Family plans...have one or two kids
I'll drive a...Sports car (yeah, with 2 kids...that'll work.)
And I'll own a...record label (I really knew how to dream, didn't I?)
I will live in a...Mansion (I'm perfectly happy with my 4 bedroom split-level)
I will travel to...Europe (still a goal)
My friends will become...my roadies (I'm sure my friends were thinking "Gee, thanks. How nice of you. How did you guess my main goal in life was to handle your sound equipment? )
Funny, right? You know what the cool thing is? My life is completely different from what I thought it would be back then, and I'm so glad. I would not change a thing about my life. This also tells me where my heart was back then, and it definitely wasn't for serving The Lord like it is now. I'm glad that my heart has changed and I now have a family to serve God with. I still wouldn't mind having the sports car, though!

It so fun to look back on times like that, LOL, and laugh!! I was the same way, we all are, and it's great to see those dreams. Then, like you said, realized how blessed and how wonderful our like is now... even though not like we'd thought. I wouldn't change it either!

I also graduated from Highschool in 1996. I knew everything and was completely grown up. On my 30th birthday I was reflecting back and had a good laugh about all I thought that I knew. Now I am looking forward to laughing at myself again at 40.
