I just received a wonderful surprise...a call from my brother in Afghanistan! This morning my daughter woke up with a rather croup-y sounding cough so, we opted to keep her home from church and sent the guys. So, it's just her and I hanging out. A was watching "The Wiggles" and I was checking my email and my brother had sent me a message with several photos of him in his room. I was just starting to reply when....the phone rang, and it was him! Isn't that cool? I told him I was just replying to his email when the phone rang. If I had gone to church, I would've missed his call. :) We were having a great conversation and he said that he had received alot of packages from family and friends and many from strangers. That really touched my heart. He began to tell me about this program called
Adopt A Platoon, where families or organizations adopt a military platoon and send them care packages and things they need while they are overseas. Isn't that awesome! He said he walked into his room one day and there were 8 packages on his bed! I told him that there are tons of people who so appreciate their service and want to give back in some way. He was so blessed by the generosity of strangers. Sometimes we might thing that the things we do for others are so small but, they mean a ton to the receiver. I just want to say that as a sister of a brother in the military THANK YOU to the families who blessed my brother and his platoon, even though I don't know who you are! It meant so much to him and in turn means alot to me! Here are some pictures of my bro sportin' his Santa hat and his lovely bald head! I think he looks good as a baldy!
He will be coming home for some R&R (as they call it) in January. Pray that he and all of the others get home safely!
Thanks to everyone who supports our troops!

Speaking of surprises, my wife "ruined" my surprise gift to her. She accidentally discovered it a few days ahead of Christmas. At least I got to see the OMG look on her face.
About the Adopt A Platoon program, there was a segment on the local news about a family who were collecting some specific item (can't recall, but it was something that wasn't government issued, but was needed for daily survival) and it turned into this major collection—by the palette loads. It's so inspiring to see our country rally and support our troops.
My brother-in-law was stationed in Iraq twice. I know how it feels to worry about family members fighting abroad. I wish your brother and all the US troops a safe and happy holidays.

HE's big!
Hey! Here from SITS☺ Great blog! Tell your brother "THANK YOU" from me. I know you don't know me, but I wish I could personally thank each and every person who so selflessly serves our country. I've been a part of adopting troops and platoons before. I think it's just so rewarding to do something like that...giving back to them, even if in the smallest way. He's a hero.
Hope you guys have a very blessed and Merry Christmas!
