We don't celebrate Halloween at our house but, we do celebrate "Harvest-time". We even attend a harvest party where the kids get dressed up and have fun. It's a nice alternative to halloween. Growing up, I always enjoyed carving pumpkins and I wanted my kids to share in the fun. My sister-in-law told me about a devotion that she did with her family that shares about Christ while you carve the pumpkin. I looked online and I found one called The Jesus-O-Lantern. Instead of explaining it all to you here, see the link at the bottom of this post to check it out for yourself. Here are some pictures of our pumpkin carving experience. Of course, daddy did most of the carving and Kole and I scooped all of the goop out of the pumpkin, and roasted the seeds (see yesterday's blog). Here our some pics of our fun night!

Hi Gina!
What a fun project to do with the kids - Eve has been asking if it's pumpkin season now and I bet she'd love to carve a pumpkin with Daniel. Thanks for the link!
I am so glad that there is still a Harvest party. I remember attending throughout my growing up years - I have really great memories from that time. I never felt like I was missing a thing - I kind of felt bad for my friends who didn't go to the Harvest party and only went trick or treating!!
So glad I found your blog! I found you through Michelle Chapman.

Awww...that is so great! I love that! It looks wonderful! Glad you guys had a nice time! :) We don't "celebrate" halloween really either...i actually detest the holiday..but it is fun for the kids to dress up (in only appropriate costumes...i hate blood and gore ones) and we love to do the pumpkins etc! :)
Thanks so much for sharing!
