Bittersweet.

I've been thinking a lot lately about moving. All of the packing, all of the boxes of stuff that we will try to fit into a smaller space, organizing a yard sale to get rid of some of the stuff so that we won't have to try to fit it into a smaller space...you know, the usual. Actually, those are the less important things that I have been thinking about. Leaving friends and family is at the forefront of my mind. We have even made new friends over the past year that we will now be leaving behind. Although, I am sooooooo excited to be moving and taking this next step in following the purpose God has for our lives, it is somewhat bittersweet. You have all of those emotions there, like you are ripping your family (and yourself) from what is so comfortable and familiar and plopping it right in the middle of unknown territory. On one hand, it will be like a wonderful adventure and on the other hand, it really is like starting from scratch, and starting anything from scratch takes work and patience...like making bread. Who wants to sit there and let it rise twice? But, you know the work will all be worth it in the end, right?
I've also been thinking that I need to get better at keeping in touch with people. I have a bad tendency to depend on Facebook and Myspace to do the work for me when, an old fashioned letter or phone call is much more personal. That is definitely something I will be working on. Thanks for listening to er...reading my little vent. Actually, it wasn't really venting is was more like heart-sharing. If there is anyone out there who has moved far away from friends and family, (I'm sure there are tons of you) I would love any advice you have to offer!

We moved from Boston to Fliroda in 2000. It was a total shock. I joined a local church, a mothers group, a woman's bable study, school volunteer. Now it feels like I have been here forever. I know everyone. The real friends that I had before are still in contact with me and the untrue ones aren't.

I don't have any wonderful advice, really...except to embrace it as home and try to get involved in whatever you can.

Oh, and if you have a webcam or can get one, Skype is a great way to connect by video with friends and family! :)

Moving is never easy, but as I always tell myself "it is better to stay in the grip of God's will than to be comfortable and outside his grip." We are praying for you!!

I don't have any great advice - I've never moved a distance with my children. God will no doubt have blessings in store for you along the way. And I'm sure your marriage will grow as you lean on each other in a new way!

Hope we can get together a few more times before you go!

Bless you... I'm sure it's not EASY at all. Of course there's excitement, but all the other emotions as well. You guys are going to do awesome, and there's always peace in the will of God. Sorry, no advice here, but I know you'll get through it smoothly!!

:)
