Last week, it was freezing here, and when it's too cold to go outside (which it was) I'm always thinking of ideas to occupy the kids so they don't go crazy or drive me crazy, for that matter. :)
I give them some dried pasta, dried beans and some cups and utensils and let them go! They have a blast and it occupies them for a good half an hour to 45 minutes...no kidding! Of course, you need to watch that the littler ones don't stick anything in their mouth or nose.
Batman enjoys playing with dried beans as well.
I put it all in a big pan to try and keep it contained. Be prepared to sweep your floor when they are done but, the little clean up is worth the big fun they have!

Such a cute idea! I have been thinking about getting one of the sand/water tables. I won't be using sand though - I HATE sand! :) Drives me batty. The beans are a good alternative - I've used rice in a big tub before and Eve loved that.
